The CookiePal connector lets you work with your CookiePal account from a chat on claude.ai, in Claude Desktop or in the Claude mobile apps: list and add domains, get the banner tag, change how your banner looks and read your cookie scan report. This guide takes you from adding the connector to connecting your account, and explains what Claude can and cannot do from the cloud.

Before You Start

What it is: The CookiePal connector lets Claude work with CookiePal from a chat on claude.ai, in Claude Desktop or in the Claude mobile apps. Its results say what was found. They never say whether a site complies with a law, and they are not legal advice.

Account: You do not need a CookiePal account to add the connector or to plan a check of a page. You only need one to work with your own domains and banner, and the free plan works. You can create one when Claude asks you to connect.

What needs your own machine: Checking a page, verifying your installation, checking Google Consent Mode and scanning your domain all load your site in a browser on your own machine, never on CookiePal’s side. Claude in the cloud cannot do that, so those run from the CookiePal plugin in Claude Code. See How to Use CookiePal with Claude Code.

Add the Connector

Add it: On claude.ai, open Customize › Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it CookiePal and paste this address. Leave the advanced settings empty. Connectors you add on claude.ai are also available in Claude Desktop and the Claude mobile apps.

Turn it on in a chat: In a new chat, open the + menu, choose Connectors and turn CookiePal on. Claude then uses it when you ask about cookies or your CookiePal banner.

Try it: Ask Claude to plan a cookie check of a page, for example “Use CookiePal to plan a cookie check of https://example.com”. This needs no account, so Claude answers without asking you to sign in.

Connect Your CookiePal Account

When to sign in: Adding the connector does not ask you to sign in. The first time you ask for something that needs your account, such as “Which CookiePal account am I connected to?”, Claude asks you to connect, and a CookiePal page opens.

Sign in or sign up: Sign in, continue with Google, or create a free account, then press Connect. Your password is entered on CookiePal’s own pages and never passes through Claude.

What you see: Claude tells you the email, the organisation and the default domain it is connected to. Connecting changes nothing else in your account. To switch to another account, disconnect CookiePal in Customize › Connectors and connect again.

What You Can Ask Claude

Your domains: List your domains, or add a new one. A domain added this way starts on the free plan, and an organisation can add up to 10 a day.

Your banner: Get the tag to paste into your site’s page head, switch the banner between GDPR, CCPA or both, change its colours, position and texts, and rebuild it. Banner changes go live on your site straight away, so check what Claude is about to change before you approve it. Claude gives you the tag, but cannot add it to your code: paste it yourself, or let the plugin in Claude Code put it in place.

Your cookies: Read your domain’s latest cookie scan report and set the category of a cookie. Run the scan itself from the plugin in Claude Code, and Claude can then read its report in any chat.

Checks from your machine: If you ask for a page check, an installation check, a Consent Mode check or a scan, Claude explains that it needs the plugin in Claude Code on your own machine.

Limits

Calls without an account: The tools that need no account are limited to 60 calls per 10 minutes for each network, or for each account when you are signed in. Over the limit, Claude tells you how many seconds to wait.

What Is Sent to CookiePal

Only what you ask for: Each request sends only what it needs, such as the page address for a check or the banner settings you asked to change. CookiePal never receives a copy of your conversation with Claude. Requests reach CookiePal from Anthropic’s servers, not from your device.

Full detail: Read the privacy notice for everything CookiePal receives and keeps, and the terms of service for the hosted service.

Troubleshooting

Add custom connector is greyed out: Your organisation has turned custom connectors off. Ask an owner of your Claude organisation to add CookiePal.

Claude Code on the web keeps asking you to sign in: A Claude Code session on the web that uses your claude.ai connectors cannot show the Connect prompt. Ask a regular claude.ai chat which CookiePal account you are connected to, connect from there, then go back to Claude Code.

Still stuck: Email support@cookiepal.io with what you asked and what Claude said.
